CARERS ASSOCIATION SOUTHERN STAFFORDSHIRE
has a vacancy for a Young Carers Locality Worker

The Young Carers Locality Worker will promote the welfare and well-being of young carers throughout Southern Staffordshire through the provision of a high quality, appropriate, effective and sensitive service, with a particular focus on Stafford & district area (18.5hrs per week) with an additional focus (8hrs per week) in designated schools within the area of Tamworth, Cannock or Burton – area and schools to be confirmed.  The postholder will undertake one-to-one casework with young carers within schools and other appropriate settings to offer information, guidance and emotional support to young carers and their families, whilst working as part of a team to enable young carers to engage with a variety of opportunities to take a break from caring.
 
Applicants should possess excellent communication skills and have a sensitive approach to the needs of young carers. A background of working with children and young people within either a voluntary sector organization, education, health or social care setting is essential. A full driving licence and own transport is essential as the role, although based in Stafford, requires travel around Southern Staffordshire. The salary for this flexibly worked 26.5 hpw post, which is funded until September 2013, is pro rata to NJC Scale Point 26.

has a vacancy for a  Carers Health & Wellbeing Assistant


To assist in providing access for Carers into learning, self development and health and wellbeing related opportunities. The postholder will assist the Health & Wellbeing Coordinator to plan and deliver/ facilitate appropriate health and wellbeing awareness programmes for Carers, run regular meetings and social groups and arrange activities to encourage Carers to maintain their own good emotional and physical health and develop their skills and interests.

Applicants should possess excellent communication and presentation skills and have a sensitive approach to the needs of carers. A background in delivering services within either a voluntary sector organization, health care setting or in adult learning is desirable. It is also desirable for applicants to hold, (or be prepared to study for) Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Learning (PTLLS) qualification or equivalent. A full driving licence and own transport is essential as the role, although based in Stafford, requires some travel around Southern Staffordshire. The salary for this flexibly worked 20 hpw post, which is funded until September 2013, is pro rata to NJC Scale Point 18 Actual salary £9,276.

has a vacancy for a Young Carers Activities Sessional Worker


The Young Carers Activities Sessional Worker will promote the welfare and well-being of young carers throughout Southern Staffordshire through the provision of a high quality, appropriate, effective and sensitive service, offering support to our monthly Young Carers Meeting Zones and young carers activities throughout the Southern Staffordshire area.  The postholder will offer support to young carers accessing monthly groups and other activities, whilst working as part of a team to enable young carers to engage with a variety of opportunities to take a break from caring.

Applicants should possess excellent communication skills and have a sensitive approach to the needs of young carers. A background of working with children and young people within either a voluntary sector organization, education, health or social care setting is essential – a youth work background would be an advantage.  A full driving licence and own transport is essential as the role requires travel around Southern Staffordshire.
