Residential Care
If the person you care for becomes too ill or dependent and you are unable to carry on caring for them at home you may need to consider residential care.
Care homes are for people who can no longer cope at home and need support with their personal care, while care homes with nursing offer support for people whose illness or disability means that they need nursing care on a regular basis.
Some care homes also offer short-term stays to the person you care for, to let you have a break. (Carers Break/Respite)
Care homes are run by local authorities, private companies and voluntary organisations.
