The British Gas Energy Trust, which incorporates the Scottish Gas Energy Trust, is an independent Charitable Trust established in September 2004 which aims to contribute to the fight against poverty. This UK not-for-profit group social enterprise provides free assistance and service to people suffering from the emotional and financial issues caused by money troubles. With over 1,200 pages of self-help, questions, answers, videos and other resources on the site, it provides a resource for consumers. The free resources include money advice forums, online instructional videos, self-help resources and frequently asked questions. For those that have a personal question they can chat confidentially with a senior debt adviser online for free through the site.

NCB is the leading national charity which supports children, young people and families and those who work with them.

 

National Council for Voluntary Services

The National Council for Voluntary Services is a growing network of over 300 Councils for Voluntary Services (CVSs) throughout England. Their aim is to promote voluntary and community action by supporting member CVSs and giving a national voice for the local voluntary and community sector.

 

National Debtline

National Debtline (0808 808 4000) is a national telephone helpline for people with debt problems in England, Scotland and Wales. The service is free, confidential and independent. The service has existed since 1987 and was set up in conjunction with Birmingham Settlement and the Money Advice Association. National Debtline is now part of the Money Advice Trust, (registered charity no 1099506). The service provides self-help advice to its callers and also produces written self-help packs and factsheets to back this up. The service can also assist callers with the setting up of Debt Management Plans for England & Wales or Scotland.

Social Care Institute for Excellence

The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) was established by Government in 2001 to improve social care services for adults and children in the United Kingdom. The organisation achieves this by identifying good practice and helping to embed it in everyday social care provision. SCIE works to disseminate knowledge-based good practice guidance; involve service users, carers, practitioners, providers and policy makers in advancing and promoting good practice in social care; enhance the skills and professionalism of social care workers through our tailored, targeted and user-friendly resources.

 

St. John Ambulance

St. John Ambulance is the UK's leading First Aid, transport and Care charity. It provides First Aid and medical support services, caring services in support of community needs and education, training and personal development to young people. St. John Ambulance trains over half a million people each year, running a range of First Aid courses for children, the general public and the workforce. St. John Ambulance has over 47,000 volunteers and 200,000 casualties are treated by trained volunteers a year. The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People’s Services (C4EO)

This new organisation has been developed for the children’s sector, from the children’s sector. C4EO will identify and coordinate local, regional and national evidence of ‘what works’, to create a single and comprehensive picture of effective practice in delivering children's services. Using this information, C4EO will offer support to local authorities and their Children’s Trust partners, working with them to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families. It will focus its work on six national themes identified in Every Child Matters. These are: early years; disability; vulnerable children (particularly children in care); youth; parents, carers and families; and schools and communities.
