Carers Issues > Assessment:

Assessments are designed to determine if carers are eligible for support and if so to identify what support is needed by the carer. The assessment will also see if those needs can be met by social or other services. Under the terms of the Carers Equal Opportunities Act 2004 Social Services Departments have a duty to inform carers of their right to assessment. The assessment is carried out to help carers to care and also to assist them in continuing at work or look at learning and leisure opportunities.
